Radio monitoring with comprehensive coverage

MTR provides tracking data from a wide network of radio stations, offering insights into the performance of individual songs across diverse markets and demographics. Learn when and where your song is getting airplay across 5000+ radio stations in North America.

Airplay tracking plans that are affordable

MTR offers affordable airplay tracking plans in 1-month, 3-month and 6-month bundles to make radio monitoring more accessible to artists and professionals of all levels. We recommend purchasing at least a 3-month tracking plan as radio can take time to pick up songs by newer artists – and if you do get an “add”, you may get airplay for months! If you are a more established artist, or represent one, you may prefer to track for upwards of 6 months to make sure you don’t miss out on any important reporting.

Real-Time Reporting in an intuitive dashboard

MTR provides real-time data and analytics in an intuitive dashboard. Radio reporting empowers you to be nimble during a release rollout. Adapt strategies and optimize promotion campaigns on the fly. You can set preferred filters to view only the data you want to see. View an all-time overview, or check specifics by selecting a tracking period. See spins by radio stations, cities, and day parts in your personal dashboard. With universal filters, you can compare a song’s performance by day, week, or month with the previous tracking period. Data reports can be downloaded as a top level overview or with any of your dashboard preferences set.

If you don’t see airplay right away, don’t fret! Take a look at Caster Reporting to see which stations have downloaded your song. Try to reach out and build a rapport. Or consider utilizing your free second or third resend. Update your promotional email subject line with something catchy! Promote a new music video or highlight upcoming tour dates, or drop some press quotes. Anything to grab the attention of radio programmers in hopes they give your song another listen, and hopefully a spin!

It’s easy to get started with MTR

Once you are signed up and signed in, you can view the sample dashboard for free, and take a look at the list of radio stations MTR tracks. You only pay when you are ready to start tracking. Once you have promoted a release to radio and are ready to go –  you just upload your song(s), fill in information, and choose a tracking plan. MTR lets you track a single song, or multiple songs by multiple artists. As soon as your songs are uploaded, MTR will start tracking spins in real-time. Once MTR detects airplay your spins will show up in the dashboard.

Need a little more information before promoting and tracking your music?

Why you should promote your music to radio

Radio offers legitimacy and longevity which is why it is such an enduring part of the music industry. It also pays proper royalties to songwriters, master owners, and recorded performers. While playlist placements, sync licensing and Tik Tok virality have become priorities in any comprehensive promotion strategy – there are some things to consider. Coveted editorial playlists are typically dominated by top artists on major labels with big marketing budgets. Sync placements are harder to land these days because EVERYONE wants them. Becoming a TikTok sensation is not easy, and is often fleeting. If you want staying power, radio play can last up to 6 months for a single, or even a lifetime if you happen to be one of the lucky ones that drops an instant classic. Plus one radio spin could mean hundreds if not thousands of impressions, aka listeners! Whereas one stream is just one listener typically! So if you want to grow your fanbase while building important industry relationships, radio is key.

Forecast potential future royalties from airplay

By tracking your radio spin data, you get a glimpse into what kind of radio royalties may be on the horizon. Royalty collection typically takes a long time. So having radio reports not only shows you how your music is doing at radio, but it provides the documentation to back it up when reviewing future royalty statements. Not to mention radio pays proper royalties in comparison to streaming.

Promote your music to radio, then track it

Radio-specific data in combination with any other analytics pertinent to your release & promotion cycle, is incredibly powerful. Whether it helps your music team pivot or expand upon current promotions or forecast future campaigns. Play MPE knows this and here to help!
